2008 Recap
Wow!
With 48 players in attendance we more than doubled our attendance since last year. A big round of applause for Jeff, Bill, Chad, Tom, our Judges, and everyone else who made this possible.
Also a big thank you to everyone who came out and played! Without your dedication to the game Buckeye Battles would not have been possible.
I had a great time meeting new people and getting to play some Warhammer Fantasy with people from outside our club. I've already committed myself to be back next year (as a volunteer this time). See you there.

Rules
Miniatures:
1. Where at all possible all models in the army should be “What you see is what you get”. This means Great Weapons, spears, shields, Marks, etc should all be evident. The majority of the unit should be equipped in that fashion.
2. Non GW miniatures are acceptable, but must be an appropriate model and must be on the correct sized base.
3. Conversions are allowed and encouraged. They must be evident as to what they represent to a reasonable standard. Special permission may be given on a case by case basis. Counts As and Proxy models are discouraged, but you may make your case if you have a specific conversion or theme.
4. Before each game go over your army with your opponent explaining any equipment, marks, upgrades, and types of characters. This is NOT an open list GT, so any hidden models (fanatics/assassins) or magic items are not revealed. Ambushers, tunnellers, and scouts should be mentioned. Ambushers and tunnellers can be decided upon at the end of deploying units, but before scouts and characters.
General Gaming
1. The Judge or Umpire will have the final word. No exceptions.
2. No swearing or offensive language or actions. You may be warned or asked to leave without a refund depending on the offense and/or number of offenses.
3. Roll your dice in an open area and make sure your opponent can see them. Agree prior to the game what a cocked die is and how you will handle rerolling them.
3. Warhammer 7th Edition rules, Errata, FAQs are in effect. Know the rules. Know your army. Direwolf FAQ will be considered official for this tournement.
4. Armies may not include Regiments of Renown unless the army is a Dogs of War army, including the Truthsayer and Dark Emissary. The Dogs of War GIANT and Ogre Kingdoms DoW are allowed with the armies listed in their rules, except Rhinox Riders are only allowed in OK armies.
You may use Kislev and DoW Armies. No Storm of Chaos or Lustria armies are allowed. No units or items that only appear in SoC are allowed.
No special characters, no appendix/back of book lists are allowed. This includes any named characters in the newer army books.
5. Sliding vs Clipping can both lead to dubious tactics. Players should agree prior to the game if they will Slide or allow Clipping. If they cannot agree ahead of time, we will default to the rulebook and erratta that states Sliding is not strictly allowed, and clipping should be avoided if at all possible. Units must use any movement they can to maximise models in contact on both sides.
Odd Number of Players
We will have a Ringer or House army with an average list. His mission will be to provide fair and fun games but he is not there to give up freebie wins. He is ineligible for any awards and will play for free. If he is not needed, he will act as a judge until such time he is needed.
Terrain
Terrain is preset. It does not move other than if Treesinging moves it. At the end of the game place the woods back in the estimated original location.
Woods block all LOS, even from hills to large targets.
Fanatics will die if they contact any terrain feature other than open ground.
Units cannot see over other units on the same hill.
Do not use the rulebooks model’s eye view to determine LOS.
Buildings and Hills will block LOS of large targets, use 7th ed building rules.
Ruins will be treated as soft cover and difficult ground.
The Draw
The 1st day’s three rounds will be entirely within your band rating, and Swiss System within the bands. On day 2 the bands will be dropped and a Pure Swiss System will re-rank the players overall for the final 2 battles with a bonus of 3 tourney points if playing someone in a band/tier higher than yours.
Grudges:
No grudge matches due to the banding system.
Scoring
Each game will be scored
15 for a win
10 for a draw
5 for a loss
Players playing vs someone in a higher band get +3 tournament points despite the outcome. This will only affect the final 2 games. No penalty for playing someone below your band.

Total possible 25pts
*If you did not paint your own army, we ask you notify the organizers when you register. You can still get painting points, but will not be eligeable for the painting award.
Sportsmanship
At the end of each game, you will be asked to complete a sportsmanship questionnaire up to 5pts per round. We ask that you be honest. Time and time again, people give max points to everyone they play and then are disappointed that the guy that was not a good sport is in the running for a best sport award.
At the end of the tournament you will also be asked to vote for the ‘best sportsman’ amongst those players you played over the weekend. You may assign 2 bonus points to 1 person that you played and 1 bonus point to another person that you played. You may choose not to assign any bonus points at all.
This will be a total of 25pts + bonus points from Best Sports Vote.
